UUID Generator
Need a fresh identifier? Spin up one UUID v4 โ or a whole flock of up to 50 โ with cryptographically secure randomness, right here in your browser.
How to use
- Pick a count between 1 and 50 โ 5 is loaded by default.
- Click Generate to create that many random UUID v4 identifiers instantly.
- Click any UUID to copy just that one, or use Copy all to copy the whole batch (one per line).
- Paste them into your database seeds, config files, test fixtures, or API payloads.
- Regenerate freely. Every batch is fresh โ nothing is stored or reused.
Frequently asked questions
How do I generate a random UUID v4 online?
Use the tool above: pick how many you want and click Generate. Each UUID is a version 4 (random) identifier built from your browser's cryptographically secure random generator โ the same crypto.getRandomValues API security-minded developers trust.
What does a UUID look like?
A UUID is 36 characters in five hyphen-separated groups, like 3f6a2b1c-9d4e-4f7a-8c1b-5e6d7a8b9c0d. In a version 4 UUID, the 13th character is always 4, and the 17th is one of 8, 9, a, or b โ that's how you can tell at a glance.
Can I generate multiple UUIDs at once?
Yes โ set the count up to 50 and hit Generate for a whole batch at once. Copy all puts them on your clipboard with one UUID per line, which is perfect for seeding databases or test data.
Are these UUIDs unique?
Version 4 UUIDs are random 128-bit values, so collisions are astronomically unlikely โ you'd need to generate billions before the odds even become interesting. They are generated locally and never sent anywhere, so no one else can reuse yours.
What's the difference between UUID v1 and v4?
v1 UUIDs are derived from the current time and a machine identifier, so they can leak information about when and where they were made. v4 UUIDs are purely random, which makes them the better default for IDs, tokens, and anything where you don't want to embed metadata.
